Date Night

J and I made a pact that every Friday night will be our date night. We usually have dinner at one of those restaurants in the mall. But there are times when traffic is so bad or we feel lazy, we just walk to Shinjuku Ramen House. This restaurant is one of our favorites. The food there is our comfort food.

Pat's Philly Cheesesteak

When we went to the US, especially the East Coast, we made a list of must-eat food. Those food that are associated to a place or featured in movies and TV shows like the ubiquitous NY pizza and cheesecake, Sabrett hotdogs from Men In Black, White Castle burger from Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Philly cheesesteak from Travel and Living, Magnolia cupcakes from Sex and the City, and many others.

Thank God, our friends were game enough to satisfy our curiousity and cravings.

From among the many food that we ate, the Philly cheesesteak topped J's WOW-list of must-eat food.
Pat's is credited as the creator of the now-famous Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

Apologies for the unappealing photo. It does not justify the cheesesteak's delicious taste.
The unassuming establishment.

The line can get really, really long and the restaurant crowded.

"There's such a lot of world to see."

I thank the Lord for giving me the chance to travel to the US this year.
I'm also grateful to my friends and relatives for extending their warm hospitality and making our visit truly memorable.
Finally, I'm blessed to have my very own dream maker in J*,

"wherever you're going I'm going your way."

*but definitely not a "heartbreaker"

Shick

I'm suffering from an upset stomach since last Monday, 24 May 2010. I have bloating and belching symptoms since Monday; lbm since yesterday, and now I feel that I'm coming down with a fever.

I'm trying to pindown the cause and I remember I had the following:
Breakfast: Post's cereal, Harvey's lactose free milk and banana
Snacks: cookies from my Continental flight
Lunch: chicken sandwich from The Sandwich Guy and fried chicken from the building cafeteria

My tummy started acting up right after lunch. I felt sleepy like I ate something with MSG and then my ordeal began.

What to do, what to do. This is so annoying.

Anyways, I took the following as my natural remedy:

iced tea;

hot tea;

gatorade P37@7-11;

banana;

and lotsa, lotsa water.

The hot tea soothes my bloated and aching tummy, the gatorade and iced tea keeps me hydrated, and the banana for my potassium need.

I was feeling so bad about my predicament last Monday that I aimlessly wandered around the mall after lunch time and compulsively bought this cake from Breadtalk as a dessert. The taste was decent but not that memorable.

Green, green, greens at Getty's

The Getty's central garden is a work of art itself. It calms the soul and refreshes the senses. "All of the foliage and materials of the garden have been selected to accentuate the interplay of light, color, and reflection." (See http://www.getty.edu/visit/see_do/gardens.html)

Amazing maze of floating azalea hedges with our jeepney. My photo is so badly composed that it does not do justice to this beautiful garden.
Wispy deer grass
The Amphora Fountain. I was strangely attracted and fascinated by this structure. The different shades of green created by the moss and the indentation  has the effect of making it a unique work of art.
The breeze that gently sway the leaves complements the shimmering waters in the fountain/pool.

My interpretation of the interplay of light, color and reflection.
